The Values of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Milan
We Value the Holy Bible
We Value the Confessions of the Evangelical Lutheran Church.
We believe that the Holy Bible is Godís inspired and inerrant Word and that it is the sole source and norm for faith and life.
We understand the Lutheran Confessions as contained in the Book of Concord of 1580 to be the correct exposition of the Holy Scriptures.
We believe we are saved by grace alone, through faith alone, by Scripture alone. This guides our preaching, teaching, prayer, and sacramental ministries.
We Value Traditional/Liturgical Worship
God comes to us in His Word and Sacraments where He confronts us with His Law and forgives and comforts us with His Gospel. In grateful response we give Him thanks and praise. We use primarily the historic liturgies of the Church, not because it is commanded, but because they have served and continue to serve the Gospel and the Church so well.
We Value Christian Outreach to All People
We believe that Jesus Christ died and rose for all people; therefore, we share Jesus within our community and support the worldwide proclamation of the Gospel.
We Value Life-Long Growth in Christ
We believe that growth in Christ occurs as God is at work in us through His Word and Sacraments. Therefore, in addition to weekly worship, we offer opportunities for people of all ages to be engaged with Godís Word and to live lives of service.
We Value a Gospel-Motivated Life of Stewardship
We believe that all that we have comes to us as a gift from God. The greatest gift is the salvation we have in Christ Jesus. We encourage and give opportunity for grateful response to Godís Grace.
We Value Families
God created families as the basic unit of society. We encourage and support the Biblical pattern of parents and children worshiping, studying, praying, serving, and fellowshiping together.
We Value Collaboration
We believe that God calls us into community with one another in His Church. In this congregation we are called to work together in Christian love.
We Value Lutheran Education at All Levels
We support families who choose LCMS Lutheran schooling for their children. We welcome students from Concordia University into our midst. We support those who study at LCMS Lutheran universities and seminaries for service in the Church.
We Value a Church that is Accessible and Attractive
We believe the congregationís building and facilities should not prevent people from hearing about the love of God in Jesus Christ. We strive to make our buildings and facilities accessible and attractive.
